Week 70: White Christmas

 MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Last year, on this day exactly, I wrote my christmas weekly email and it was very sad. Coming off of the hardest weeks of my life, dengue fever and lots of homesickness. But this year is a lot better! The cool thing about last year though is my very sad email got lots of responses! I love thinking in a year I've come this far. In a year I've learned so much. And that year was both super long and fast!

Even with covid, it's still felt more christmasey here than Tahiti. Decorations all over our house and the streets, TONS of desserts we've been given, big snow fall recently, and little fun things we've been doing.

All three of our wards had beautiful Christmas services with a ton of musical numbers it was so amazing. Christmas hymn after christmas hymn performed so differently. The back to back to back church wasn't as long this week!

We can't carol which we had planned, but our stake had a drive in movie playing the christ child on repeat! So we watched that which was fun and brought the spirit. It's such a good movie ! We also had secret Santa in our district. I got a yoga cat calender, and a cardboard box with Ovo cardboard. It was fun.

We've also been dropping off cards to members. I bought/was given and wrote 40 cards with short messages. It's been fun dropping them off and seeing the members briefly in person. It's also one of the few things us missionaries can do without being annoying right now. I never want to impose.

Lastly, to top all traditions off, we watched Mr Krueger's Christmas as a district last night and it was so awesome. I wasn't able to watch it last year, so I needed to make a big deal of it this year. District activity for it (allowed since we called it a missionary meeting) was the biggest we could go.

I love christmas and even though it's way different this year for everyone, the reason for the season stays the same. Christ can be felt the same and we can still connect with each other differently. We can feel joy, peace, hope and love through Christ regardless of any circumstance or trial. That's true how at Christmas, but all year round.

Have a merry christmas!

Love,

Elder Fiore

The Homecoming!

To say we were excited is an understatement! I spoke with Zach that morning before he left: We were all anxiously awaiting at the airport! ...
