Week 56: Being a purposeful missionary is costly

Yooo,

Thanks for tuning in for another week of my life. This week was fine.

In person church is back which was fun but different. It's always nice seeing more people though!

We had some car sadnesses this week    :(. A flat tire on the highway, and well I got a Ticket. They have stupid cameras everywhere for speed and I didnt know. So I got a ticket going like 76 in a 60 (not even speeding tbh) and it was expensive. All those "how to be a good missionary" books and safety zone talk about walking fast and w a purpose. "It shows our message is important and that we are happy and motivated" etc etc. I thought that applied for driving. Police and the mission office don't think so :(. I was living on edge all week scared I'd get another in the mail cause you dont find out until after and I drive (reasonably) fast. So I was/still am actually stressing hard.

I posted some book of mormon and bible ads on marketplace and in some no rule buy swap and sell groups. I had a while ago too, but just re posted the ads. I got like 230 comments on one. Some bash, some riding out, some just full arguments in the comments. It was crazy. We dropped 3 books of mormon off from it though! The work is changing haha. But as we see so many times in the scriptures, adaptations are necessary ! Whether for finding or teaching.

We tried to visit dorothy, an 87 year old we had been visiting for weeks. But she refused to speak w us or come down. The book of mormon was too hard and shes given up apparently. Shes a member lol. So that was fun. But we keep visiting old people, and then ask for names of who else we should visit, and get more old people so it's an awesome train. We visited back to back to back old single ladies yesterday! We are trying to spend most of our open time visiting people who need company.

Hope everyone has an awesome week! Be careful for speed traps. They're everywhere here. God is too. Hes always with you!

Elder Fiore

Week 55: Delayed Goodbyes

Hello everyone!

So transfers happened this week! I'm staying a third with Moses which I wasn't very happy about. I never wanted to stay three with anyone and it was unheard of in Tahiti, but we are staying!

We played some basketball with xander and Micheal , did some service, and had some meetings! There was also a zone covid scare but we are chillin now.

We got dinner with Zemenfes which was sweet! It was a goodbye dinner for moses as we thought he was leaving. He told us to wear normal clothes lol. Hes a recent convert from Eritrea.  His english is not very good but we teach him twice a week and it's getting better. He took us to Boston pizza. Hes so funny and a savage. He told moses "you're very fat. Shes very skinny (pointing to thewaitress)" then after a slight pause, "good babies". He just randomly said that. The raptors game was also on in the background but they got killed so I was sad.

I had such a good talk with one of the zone leaders here about transfers. Moral was everything happens for a reason. Always lessons to be learned. It's so hard but so true. I've never not gotten something good out of a trial. I've never not at least seen a positive. Even if it's really hard in the moment. I dont know why we are both staying a third when I felt that it would be better for both of us and the area for a transfer. But I'll see it was for the best. President emailed me before transfers that he wanted to visit after  transfers, so maybe I'll find out the reason then.

Hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Week 54: An area 70 looked at my bare bum

 Hello everyone!

Another week, another email!

Firstly I guess, I must explain the subject. So an area 70 is a calling in the church and is pretty high. They cover big areas, so ours here covers all of southern Alberta (over the stake presidents).
Today, when visiting a non member (more specifically looking for moses' lost croc charms), their big boy dog ran out and bit me on the elbow hard then the bum. Drew blood both places and hurt a lot lol. Our mission president's wife told us to go to the doctors and it was our area 70! So he looked at the bite on my bum! I'm chillin now, the dog had his shots, but he's lucky I didn't have more time with him. Jk he was thicc.

Another fun and thankfully less aggressive pet encounter was holding snakes at a lesson. Held a baby boa constrictor and 2 pythons. It was pretty cool. They're so muscular.

We did a service of literally picking up twigs and then mowing already short grass for someone in their early 30s. It was super unnecessary but he asked me my favourite band and played lumineers while we worked so it was good in the end. We also helped him so that was cool too.

We had a baptism this week, Reichen, and it was super nice. He was so excited before, during and after. Baptisms are such happy times. As we come even just  a little closer to Christ we will find more joy! And he is another young men! He was found through members. The power of inviting! Was invited to an activity initially, then to do the lessons. All super fast too.

I keep forgetting but I need to do a birthday shoutout to Samantha from a couple of weeks ago! Happy birthday! They grow so fast.

Have a great start to school everyone! I'm lowkey jealous.

The Homecoming!

To say we were excited is an understatement! I spoke with Zach that morning before he left: We were all anxiously awaiting at the airport! ...
