Week 93: Land of the dinosaurs

 Good morning!

Another week out here grinding and working and finally seeing some success! It was a very solid week with some travelling!

We had a cheeky exchange in Cochrane, so I went w a new companion for the day but bcs of covid we couldn't stay over or anything so that sucked. But it was still fun to be in another city and closer to the mountains.

The real highlight of the week was our Saturday day trip to Drumheller, the dinosaur capital of the world! It was incredible. We cover the branch (small congregation) out there, so we spent the day visiting people we are teaching and ward members. All back to back so we were crazy busy and had like 10 appointments back to back to back... but Drum was like the best. Driving in you are going through prairies and then you just enter into this badland canyon and are in the desert with cactus. All around the town they just have fake dinosaurs. Like all over. And then in the middle they have the tallest dinosaur in the world (a fake one haha). So in between lessons and just while driving we did some tourism which was great! It was a super fun and effective day honestly. And the road trip was fun too. Just overall highlight of the transfer probably and we had a couple great lessons and dinner w a 93 year old couple and they were so cute but covid wise I was a bit scared for them.

There's no way to really top a dinosaur town with dinosaurs all around for the week, but we did some moves, had some insane first lessons where the people are so humble and prepared and are already our most progressing people, and led a young woman's activity about sharing the gospel!

Okay this is long but it's because I had to describe the Bible a bunch. But BEAR w me (you'll get it soon):

Something I really liked in my studies this week is I was reading the story of David and Goliath. Most people know it, where there is a giant dude and he's a beast, goliath, and he's fighting Israel, David's, and they decide to 1v1 for slavery instead of having whole armies die. The Israelites don't know who would be their rep, so david steps up and bcs he's fighting for God he kills goliath with a slingshot! But one thing I never knew was a part right before David went. He volunteered and they were like "dude you're no one" and then  he told the story about how he was a shepherd and one time his dad's sheep was taken by a bear and the other time a lion and he killed them both to save the sheep. And I started thinking, when the bear and the lion came and he had to deal w them, he was probably wondering why he had this trial. Why God gave him these things to deal with even though he was probably a good and righteous shepherd. Why him? Why a bear and a lion for him? But years later we see that that moment right there. That moment is what gave him confidence he can do hard things with the Lord. Confidence he can kill Goliath and ultimately save Israel. Had he not had the trial he never would've known he could do it and never would've been able to trust God as he did. Never could've volunteered or had the confidence. Our little trials prepare us for the bigger ones. They are evidence we can do it. They're Not punishment but preparation so we can act when it truly matters. We all have Goliaths, but we've already beat the bears and lions to prepare us.

Whichever you're at, you can do it!

Have a great week :)

The Homecoming!

To say we were excited is an understatement! I spoke with Zach that morning before he left: We were all anxiously awaiting at the airport! ...
