Week 12: Gonna Get Fat

Hello

So this week has still been super hard but I want to thank everyone for their support. Every email, every letter and now (the ones) I brought with me; they've all brought so much comfort. Thank you all so much. Sorry I can't respond every week or well, but I appreciate it all so much and take pics (of the emails) to read them later.

This week has been more of the same. Mainly visiting people and trying to set up lessons. teaching some lessons too which is so great.

One of the people we are teaching didn't come to church tho which was sad. Mission life.

We eat so much carbs here. One dinner we had rice, so I put a bunch on my plate, and I opened the pot which included the topings for the rice... and it was noodles. We had noodles on rice. Bread in the middle too that we started with. Dessert was crepes. SMH. It was good at least.

We visited this one guy around 5 times this week but he was never there. On our 6th visit he was there! We started the lesson and found out his mom died  3 weeks ago. We started teaching about the after life and stuff and gave him a blessing, which is using God's power and authority. We blessed him and the spirit was so strong and he just stqyed on his knees and bawled for a few minutes into his hands about his mom. It was the hardest thing I've ever seen. I started crying too. This man is going through one of the hardest trials possible anyone can face, all alone; with no knowledge of the gospel, the plan of salvation (after life and eternal families) or Christ. It broke my heart and does every time I think about it. This is why I'm here. To help people like him.  It was a powerful reminder.

Have a great week everyone

Mom note:

We were able to talk to Zach for a few minutes. It's always quite rushed and busy with so many other missionaries talking on other computers and waiting to use the computer. Hence why he has little time to respond to people - he needs to make sure everyone has their time. He was able to call us back later as he went to a family's home (our tender mercy family who send us pictures and emails). We were able to talk with him more which was so good. He is so honest with his struggles and I'm so proud of him. The growth in him has been incredible. Missions are hard - he is in the refiners fire....

In case anyone is interested in sending him a letter or card - his address is :

I love looking at his pictures and wondering why he took them - what he thought was beautiful, what he doesn't want to forget. I especially loved this one - as I knew exactly why he took it. The ship is from Hamburg - where his great grandmother was from and where we visited a few years ago together on his 15 trip:

For his little brothers I'm sure - and the excitement of seeing soccer!

The Homecoming!

To say we were excited is an understatement! I spoke with Zach that morning before he left: We were all anxiously awaiting at the airport! ...
